We already discussed Gobstones, Quidditch, and a BS system as discussed here but as a refresher and reflection...
Gobstones: Allow a wager system, set it up as a rock paper scissors game. However, after the suggestion for dueling, if this is not done, I'd suggest for it to be a game based on timing and skill, you must hit closer to the center than your opponent, if you do so based on the meeter as it bounces up and down on the force meter, then you win 5 points minimum.
From the EA Quiddich world cup game. Made about 12 years ago. Pottermore can learn from this. |
BS: To those of you who don't know what this is, it's a guessing game. Each person would ante up so much of an ingredient, and the goal is to figure out if you wagered more or less than the opponent, and if you were right you'd get the amount you anted doubled. Thinking back on it it would seem to be a poor fit for Pottermore, though it would be convenient for potion purposes.
Chocolate Frog Cards matching: you have to have at least 2 of 10 cards. You receive one point for every card you match within a minute, with a max of 30 cards available to be matched, so 30 points per matching round.
Gnome flinging: See the intro picture! This one can be either for points or not, but the setting would be changed to the Hogwarts herbology gardens. For hitting beyond a certain distance, one receives 5 points per gnome, otherwise the prize is random between an ingredient, a chocolate frog card or gardening tools.

O.W.L.s: Available ONLY after all of Order is completed. Answer 5 questions in 5 subjects, with a point per correct answer. Can be done once every day.
Wizard's Chess: Two ways to go about this, first, you just put in a chess game, and let it function like words with friends, with a day to respond in a match. Points awarded in this scheme would be a minimum of 5, but in greater increments depending on the speed of the match.
HOWEVER, if you wanted to make things easier, you can set up the order of the pieces you send out, Queen, Rook, Bishop, Knight, and Pawn. Queens can take out anything but a Pawn, Rooks can take out all but Queens, Bishops can take out Bishops and Pawns, Knights take out Knights, Bishops and Pawns, but Pawns can take out Queens.
If a piece of equal rank attacks a piece of same rank, they destroy eachother, no points are scored.
If a piece wins, you get the points for winning, 10 for a queen, 5 for a rook, 3 for a knight/bishop and 1 for a pawn. As it stands, taking out a queen lands you 10 points, and in the best case scenario one would earn 22 points per match.
Imagine this, but endless, against Redcaps, Hinkypunks, and Dementors. |
With all of these, the idea isn't to break the game, but to allow people to flourish with the skills they have while challenging what people's limits and skills are.
So with all that, are there any games you could think up for Pottermore? What would you like to see come to the site?
