Moments:
This is a BIG one. Moments right now are kind of bland, especially with "past" moments, where due to the nature of things, nothing is collected, as such the following should probably be considered.-For each moment, a minimum of 3 things should be able to be found. In pensive cases, there should be an added zoom that is "outside" the pensive so things may be collected.
-Ideally, each moment has one ingredient to be found in it. If that does not work, then let it go. This would be best noticed in pensive chapters but this would help brewers a lot.
-In moments in the potion classrooms, more ingredients should be collectable. Really, Snape can't stock some doxycide ingredients, maybe a unicorn horn or two? We all know that Snape has loads of ingredients, so why not allow students to collect them from time to time?
-Allow for "notes" to be collected. These would not be books but UPGRADES to books. Just as Snape wrote things in his book, the same should be expected to us, this would allow us to find more spells, and a general "notebook" could be bought and store if they were not added to existing books.
-For finding items/animations, if the screen is left untouched for a while, have a collectable item faintly glow. Also, you could make the gold bar more prominent by displaying it on the side of the moment as well. This makes it rather difficult as it is now, and you cannot even tell how many things are missing or where you missed a thing.
-Add badges for completing books in their entirety. Really, this is self-explanatory. Badges should be given for completing ALL the gold bars. (also, a point for earning a badge, or ten points, would be a wonderful addition to Pottermore)
Books:
-Flesh out Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince. All three are missing some key moments, and the overall shortness given the plot-heavy nature of the books and the length, it would be nice to see more chapters and moments represented and seen in Pottermore.~Have users vote on what moments they would like to see next (top on my personal list is Dolores and the centaurs). This allows Pottermore to bide SOME time, and we get to see the bigger gaps remedied faster, as well as dictate some of what Pottermore needs to address in terms of priorities.
~Make sure to highlight art of minor characters, like Winky, Barty Crouch Jr, Ludo Bagman, Stanley, Kreatcher, Mundungus, and the like. We should be able to see them a little closer, and a little clearer.
-For AFTER Deathly Hallows, shift the focus to our OWN stories a bit more. Open up "books" and "moments" for things like Fantastic Beasts, Beedle the Bard and Quidditch through the ages, as well as maybe expanding Book of Spells and Book of Potions properly on Pottermore.
Friends:
This is more of a safety concern, but given friends are an important feature, it should be highlighted more and fixed up for users.-As stated in Vol 2, make sending a thing you can do without friends. I was told and had seen this is possible now, but unless someone is rather clever, they cannot do so. So revamp the gifting page/system to make it more obvious to new users.
-Allow people to sort friends into groups. Really this shouldn't be hard. "Role playing friends" "dueling friends" "Potions friends" we act differently in different groups, and doing this should help us sort out all our friends better than we can currently, which is really not much at all.
-Allow people to filter out conversations by friends. THIS IS A GODSEND! You want an RP only area? Well how about that it can now be created even in a busy great hall. Role players won't see people harassing them unless they want to, and people can essentially shut their eyes to role players if they want. Friendship is magic.
-Allow people to create point minimums for friendship if they wish to. This would make so many leader board member's lives easier. So let's hope for some ease.
-Allow mass deletions of one's friends list, so they may select more than one at a time. See above. Leaderboard members. Lots of friend requests.
Content:
-Update the Daily Prophet (if anyone can get Jo on that). This is seriously one of the bigger disappointments I've seen on Pottermore. It had so much potential, but it's gone.-Patronus Quiz (I know it's coming but I'm impatient)
-Animagus Quiz, as this is one where it could be held back based on exploration and passing games before it's properly unlocked.
-Wand lore on other wand cores. We only know about what Ollivander used, but not much of other cores. This will become increasingly of interest as we address the elder wand in Deathly Hallows.
-Explain certain things (like the veil) in more detail. Rowling never goes into much detail in the books, and some mysteries, while they are fun to speculate about, will ultimately be replaced by others in due time.
Common rooms:
-Post the most liked comment of the day on the front notice board. Seeing the comment on extendable ears gets moderately dull.-Allow filters by post content. (so you can block out role play if you wish) This gives a defacto "role play room" though a real role play area would probably be preferable.
-auto-block most content for new users, till they earn 20 points. Make it like a game, give people the ability to level up. If you restrict content by increments and make people "earn" the better things in some way, they will enjoy it more. For the common rooms, if we were using the above systems,
The above changes are things I believe would fix much of the problems with Pottermore outside of the game functions, and would aid users in keeping the site safe as Pottermore wishes, as well as the needs of users in finding out what would help them in enjoying the site and making it a more social experience.
So what do you think? Would this fix what ails moments? Or would it make Pottermore just as meh as ever?
