Disappointments: Diagon Alley

Oh Diagon Alley... whatever potential you had is gone now for the most part, and the flaws here speak much to the flaws of Pottermore as a whole.
Diagon Alley... the crowning achievement of Universal Studios, the Wizarding Center of commerce, and Pottermore's biggest disaster. What? This is the biggest disaster Pottermore has ever had? Yes, yes it is. It speaks quite a bit to the problems that have consistently plaugued it, and when upgraded, has gotten far worse.

In the beginning, Diagon Alley was less of it's own page, and more of a moment in the stories, yes, even the shop was a moment. Personally I found this to be rather clever on design as you could shop from within the story, and the inventories of the shops were all interesting, but the problem that plauged it was how narrow it was at the beginning. Only a handfull of shops, not much interesting, Ollivanders was the only thing at the end of Diagon Alley worth doing and you could only do it once.
To this date, only one new location in Diagon Ally has been unlocked since beta, and while inventories have grown for two out of the five shops, the rest have not. This is mortifing to Pottermore and stands as a symbol to its blinding incompetence slow to release books, skimping on the story when they do. It is neither substantial nor is it particularly worth praise, just like much of the changes to Diagon Alley.

Aside from the small addition of the Daily Prophet, the only other changes have been technical ones or changes to inventory. The technical change has been absolutely horrible and in no way user friendly, as it made it more difficult to go from shop to shop, as the "exit" button for the shops had disappeared and to go back one needed to hit back or manage to make their way back through the menu at the bottom.

Furthermore Pottermore has failed in opportunity many times. The time to open the ice cream parlor is over as Florean Fortescue has been announced as dead. There are no more shopping trips to Diagon Alley, so why open the new shops? The cabinets are over with as well, so there goes the last moment to open Knockturn Alley conveniently. Yes, I know all of these may be opened someday but that someday is too late. Pottermore is too slow. Where was the plan? Where was the intention? Pottermore is representative of the Potter brand and yet it is the worst of the lot. Even the panned EA games produced for quick money did more to explore the world than the site. It is a completely unnecessary thing, with the only good part of it's existence bring the release of content by Rowling.
